I don't know why I waited so long to get tickets.

The Swell Season - Danforth Music Hall, November 23. You better be there!

Whenever faced by a scissor-wielding, sixty year old, five-foot version of Amanda Lepore, run. Just run.

I made small-talk, tried not to stare at her obscene red lips, paid $70 for a disgustingly awful haircut (think Jo in Little Women), and ended up sobbing in Tommy's bed for an hour.

I lasted three days before I went to get it fixed at another salon. When the stylist was finished she said "There, now you look less mushroom-like."

Wonderful.

there's something in your voice that reams in the big stars. [May 07, 2007 @ 5:15pm]
Friday was the Once screening. It was really great.

The movie was followed by a q&a with the audience (led by Richard Crouse from Reel to Real) and then a performance. Marketa was unable to make it over the border, so it was just Glen.

Say It to Me Now
(he had strep throat and he still managed to pull this off)

Falling Slowly
(with three girls from the audience covering Marketa's part, they were amazing)

Then me and Tommy spoke to Glen for a bit and he was completely charming as usual. He called me a star. I was swooning for the rest of the night.

Robert Adam, you make my heart flutter. [April 06, 2007 @ 4:22pm]

If I ever suddenly come across a lot of money, I'm totally going on a Grand Tour. It would, of course, have to be of the authentic 18th century type. Complete with footservants, flowy dresses, hat boxes, picnics with tiny cakes, and a watercolour field-kit for making sketches of ruins.

[ music | David Gray - Ain't No Love ]

I'm addicted to Winterbells! I thought I was pretty good and bragged about my score of 32,000 to Tommy and Stu. Stu, at that moment, started a new game and after about five minutes had reached a score of 39 billion. As in 39,000,000,000.

I tried a new game after this.

Me: Don't look at my score!!
Tommy: Why, what did you get?
Me: (sad) Tennnnnnn!
Stu: That's adorable.

No, it's embarassing.

The people from my reserve are awesome.

Not only did we help Laura Secord prevent a surprise attack from American soldiers in the Battle of Beaver Dams in 1813, stood up for our beliefs and traditions during the Oka Crisis of 1990 - when the French mayor of Oka decided he was going to build a golf course and string of condominiums over an ancient burial ground. I now just discovered (in the book, "Sports and Games of Medieval Cultures") that the Mohawks of Kanawake were credited as the first people to take the traditional sled used for the transportation of supplies and use them just for fun. Thus, tobogganing was born!

(It's very irritating when books use the Anglicized spelling of our reserve - Coughnawaga - and not the traditional Kahnawake. Stripping us of our culture, beliefs, and traditions was obviously not enough, so it is especially offensive when they take the away the one thing that has been preserved [not to mention the very source of our identity] and change it merely so it's easier to pronounce.)

Last Tuesday: -30C / -22F
This Tuesday: 15C / 59F

My new favourite Czech word: sendvič. It means sandwich.

Also, this masters application is going to give me a nervous breakdown. Like right now.

I made the mistake of walking through Queen's Park in Converse(s?) this morning while it was covered about 90% by very slippery, melting ice. So while I was worried about slipping and breaking my wrist again, I also had to contend with the possibility of falling in a puddle the size of Robarts.

I'm looking forward to the cute rain boots I won on ebay coming in the mail.

Tommy's thing - ten weird things about yourself:

10. I have a penchant for highly ambitious/slightly evil men from history. People like Machiavelli, Julius II, and of course, Napoleon.
9. I hate the words ointment, penetrate, and pestilent. I like extant, allegorical, and propagandistic (There hasn't been an art history paper where I haven't used one, if not all three, of these words).
8. I have a recurring dream where an old man comes down the street in one of those mobile vendor carts, pulls out a blanket of fire, wraps it around me, and I die.
7. I can play the trombone. I own a pretty guitar, but I can't play it.
6. I have a real fear of lions escaping from the city zoo and attacking me (thank you, 'The Ghost and the Darkness').
5. I get personally offended by bad art and, especially, ugly architecture.
4. I can speak a bit of French, Italian, Czech, and Mohawk.
3. I don't like people touching my toes.
2. I get nervous in movie theatres and airplanes.
1. It annoys me to no end when people see me and Kim together, realize we're twins, and think they have the right to examine our personal features for differences. I wouldn't come within inches of your face to see if your eyes/nose/lips/etc. are bigger/smaller than any other person's. So don't do it to me.

How are still Josh Ritter tickets at Rotate This?! His show is in four days and the Horseshoe only holds what, like two hundred? If that. You people are crazy.

Dear the Canadian postal service,
I hate you. It's now quite obvious that you lost my Fionn Reagan cd. The cd which I spent twenty-six American dollars on (import). Ugh-ah!
